Hair Extensions Tips

Extensions are an amazing way of beefing up your locks. If you do have extensions or plan to get them, check out these tips…
* Do not
wash extensions any sooner than 24hours after application, as this will weaken the bonds.
* Always brush extensions BEFORE washing to de-tangle.
* Avoid getting a build up of products such as hairspray and serum as this will cause the bonds to slip, so always wash your extensions gently but rinse well until the water becomes clear.
* When using hair conditioner - Do not go higher than the bottom of the neck as this will cause the bonds to weaken.
* Regularly separate your bonds, as the hairs that would normally shed on a daily basis can get trapped in the extension bonds.
* If the bonds are not separated, matting can occur, matting is where several bonds lock together. If you ignore this it can turn into a dreadlock!
* It is preferable to use hair products specifically designed for extensions (
www.buyhair.co.uk
sells this).
* When drying extensions always use a low heat setting to avoid over drying and heating up the bonds.
* Always be careful with hair straighteners as they can melt the bond if you get too close.
If you follow these tips your extensions can last up to 5 months before you will need them reapplying. Check out www.buyhair.co.uk for more information about extensions.

Inspiring looks....

I absolutely love what lady gaga has done on this photo.... very creative!

I love how these days it’s acceptable to have random colour streaks in your hair. Celebrities such as Katie Perry and Britney Spears really pull off this look. It a great statement for anybody who wishes to portray there personality through their hair.

You can buy clip in streaks from
www.buyhair.co.uk for a few pounds, which I think is a bargain!
The eye-catching pink, blue, red and orange streaks though Britney’s hair look fun and unique, they are perfect for party’s or if you looking for a quirky style change!

Messy Hair On Perpose.

Yes, messy hair is considered a fashion statement – in a structured way of course.  Hair that generally looks like it’s been through a bush is a no no, however, beach waves and tousled curls are bang on trend for autumn 2011.

How to:
·         Shampoo and condition your hair with a small amount of conditioner, too much will weigh the hair down.
·         Towel dry your hair until there is no water dripping from the ends and then run your fingers through your hair finding where your hair falls naturally (do not use a comb).
·         Tip your head upside down and blow dry your hair from underneath (this enhances volume) and stop when the hair is semi dry.
·         At this point your hair should be half dry half damp – run wax through your hair, then blow dry until it’s dry.
·         Use your straighteners to flick out sections of your hair that don’t look particularly messy. Then finish off by scrunching with hairspray.
·         You’re finished.
If you feel your hair isn’t long enough www.buyhair.co.uk sells a range of hair extensions, they also sell all the products you need to create this look.

Feather Hair Extensions

Hair Feathers <3

After hearing a lot about hair feathers, I have decided to give them a go myself, I purchased my feathers from www.hairfeathers.co.uk for £14.99 and I also purchased the application kit to put them in.

What you need:
  • Micro ring beads
  • Threader tool and application pliers (Available from www.hairfeathers.co.uk)
  • Sectioning clips
Firstly you section off your hair and find where you would like to place the feather, You then select a tiny section of your hair and pull it through the threader tool then slip the micro bead into the root area, you then put the bond of the feather into the micro bead and clamp shut with pliers, voilà, your feather is in place.

Once you have applied your feather you can then wash, blow dry, straighten and curl them as normal.

I found myself getting really addicted and I just wanted more and more in my hair!

These feathers really give a boring old hair style a funky edge. They have been spotted on celebrities such as Selena Gormez, Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff.

Applying Individual Eyelashes

Individual eye lashes are a beauty secret behind many celebrities. They can make your eye lashes look much fuller and glamorous.

I purchased mine from
www.buyhair.co.uk, along with the glue. The glue is different from strip lashes, it’s a lot stronger, so mistakes MUST be minimal when applying these.
When applying them, apply a line of black eye liner across the lash line. Use the box and pour a blob of glue onto it. Remove the lashes from the box using tweezers, dip the end of the lash into the glue and apply to the actual eye lashes.  You must be very careful when doing this, because the glue is quite strong. The eye lashes can be removed using natural oils.

When wearing the lashes I didn’t have to top these lashes up until 3 days, which I think for the price of £5.94 is really good. Topping them up was easy, overall I had them on a week and had to top them up once then I decided to remove them.

Colour Pots.
I purchased some Directions hair colour to dip-dye my clip in extensions, I went for the carnation pink colour and the violet. Dip-dying is where you only dye the ends of your hair about 5-6 inches up.

The pots are 88ml which is enough to cover a full head of shoulder length hair, they also come with a handy latex glove to keep any dye from staining your hands. The pots are easy to use as they come with a 49 mm opening for use with a tint brush so you can dye your hair with ease!

I recommend you pre-lighten your hair before using these colour pots because the colour comes out a lot brighter and vibrant when it has a blonde base. You can buy the colour and the pre lightener from
www.buyhair.co.uk.

I applied the violet dye to the hair extensions using my tinting brush about 6 inches up, I then left it to develop for 10 minutes. I then washed the hair and dried it. The colour was VERY bright and eye catching and came out a very subtle purple. I then died the ends of the extensions with the carnation pink about 3 inches up and left it to develop for 15 minutes. After rinsing and drying the results were great and created an eye catching 2-tone effect!

The colour pots are perfect for showing off your own individual statement.

Hair Extensions Shampoo and Conditioner

I purchased these products because I own a set of clip in hair extensions that I’ve had for a while - They had started to get slightly ratty.

After doing a bit of online research I discovered using average shampoo and conditioner on hair extensions can actually ruin the hair because they contain chemicals which have a high PH level!  I shopped around for a bit and came across www.buyhair.co.uk that sells after care products which are specifically designed for extensions.

They sold a mini shampoo and conditioner set which was perfect for testing the products out before I bought the 250ml bottles.

The shampoo is a gentle moisturising cleanser while the conditioner
helps detangle and smooth’s the hair making it easy to brush and manage. They are
enriched with fruit oil extracts of apple and mango, crushed pearls and natural proteins. It is specifically formulated to help your hair stay healthy and your extensions looking naturally shiny and soft.

The shampoo and conditioner can be used in the same way as any normal shampoo and conditioner.

The products are not tested on animals, which is great because I’m strongly against animal testing. After using the products and letting my extensions dry naturally I was very pleased with the results, the hair seemed a lot glossier and in better condition, I most certainly will be buying the 250ml bottles!
